Come and join KeshetUK to celebrate Pride in London 2018! We look forward to Jewish communities across the city marking it and celebrating LGBT+ people and their families.
KeshetUK invites you to take part in any way you can. For the Pride Parade itself, we have worked with other Jewish LGBT+ community groups to have the largest presence at Pride in London ever. Click the link below to join the waiting list to join us! We'd love to help you publicise any other events too. If you want us to consider including a listing on our website or social media, please send details to [email protected]. |
KeshetUK statement on Pride in London 2018
Jewish activities for the Pride in London weekend opened with celebratory Friday night services at West London Synagogue and Kingston Liberal Synagogue where hundreds of people attended. This was followed by a Shabbat Morning Service and Kiddush at West London Synagogue on Saturday with a ‘walk and talk’ Pride study session for those who went on to join the Jewish groups at the parade.
KeshetUK co-ordinated a strong presence at the Pride in London parade 2018 with over 150 LGBT+ people, their families and allies taking part. This was organised in partnership with West London Synagogue, Jewish LGBT+ Group (formerly JGLG), Gay Jews In London, Beit Klal Yisrael, Imahot v’Avot and Parents of Jewish Gays and Lesbians.
There was a wonderful atmosphere of singing and dancing – helped by a large presence of Jewish youth movements!
The celebratory tone of the occasion was dampened afterwards when we found out that a single transphobic group hijacked the start of the Pride Parade, seeking to create division and fear instead of unity and love. At KeshetUK we offer solidarity and support through our work to ensure a trans inclusive world. We call on Pride in London to communicate the steps they will take to ensure this could not happen again.
KeshetUK Executive Director Dalia Fleming said, "Singing ‘Kol Ha’Olam Kulo’ through the streets of London was a message for all. This Hebrew song emphasises how we must not live in fear. The Jewish contingency in the parade showed the diverse and inclusive nature of our community and how together – we can create a world free from fear of having to choose between one's LGBT+ and Jewish identity.”

|
Kingston Liberal Synagogue Friday night service
Location: Rushett Road, Long Ditton, Surrey KT7 0UX Time: from 7pm onwards As of 2017, seventeen LGBTQ+ Rabbis have been ordained under Leo Baeck College auspices, with a further four other LGBTQ+ Rabbis ordained somewhere else who serve British communities. We will always remember the pioneers, Rabbi Lionel Blue, z”l, Rabbi Sheila Shulman, z”l, and Rabbi Elli Tikvah Sarah who serves Brighton and Hove Liberal synagogue. Each year, the LGBTQ+ community celebrates the freedom gained in some places of the world, but sadly the work is far from being complete. In many countries, people are killed because of their sexual orientation, whereas in other countries, same-sex couples can have a wedding. Kingston Liberal Synagogue, the only Liberal synagogue in the south-west of London, beyond the Thames, will have a special chavurah supper led by Rabbi Rene Pfertzel and Rabbi Janet Darley. We will celebrate the achievements and reflect on the current situation. If you are willing to come, please call the office (020 8398 7400) and bring food to share (vegetarian and fish only). [Please note: No one from KeshetUK will be attending this event but we are proud to advertise it] |

Sunday - 08/07/18
A new group has just been set up called "LAVIOT". Please note: this is not run by KeshetUK but we are proud to be sharing news of their creation and Pride event this Sunday. Please see details below:
LAVIOT is a community of queer, Jewish women which fills a gap in the social landscape. Though we recognise our three pillars as LGBT+, female-identifying and Jewish, we’ll let you define them for yourself. This community is an open space for anyone who feels it is relevant for them. So if you’re L, G, B, T or a +, if you’ve never had a kneidlach or you’re the embodiment of moshiach, if you identify as female all of the time or almost none of the time, you are welcome here. However you define it, we support it.
For more information about a pride picnic on Primrose Hill on Sunday 8 July or for our future events please join our Facebook group.
